My Name is John W Goodbody and here is My Story:
I have always had a fascination with the human body. The way it innately works (or should work!), the vast yet connected systems, their functions, etc. So, when deciding what to pursue in life, I hedged toward medicine, but was not convinced that Western Medicine was the right course for me, as I would choose nature and nurture over drugs and reactive medicine. Don't get me wrong, I respect and believe that there is a place for traditional medicine, but for the majority of "illnesses," affecting people, taking medication for conditions that would correct themselves if people "listened" to their bodies and became proactive in ways to enhance and optimize bodily function made much more sense to me.
With that in mind, I enrolled in college and graduated with a degree in Physical Therapy...check. Then came Chiropractic College...check. This is where I began to shift in my perception of what healthy meant. By the time I graduated with a Doctoral degree in Chiropractic, I sincerely believed that Chiropractic was THE answer to optimal health. At that time, I was very black-and-white when it came to issues in general, which is strange, as the Chiropractic profession is certainly not cut-and-dry; however, these two professions allowed me to envision and practice in a way that made sense - perception is reality, right?
Fast forward 15 years.
OK, after treating thousands of individuals for various conditions with results that were/are overwhelmingly positive, the "ah-ha" moment arrived. As so many people experience, one of those moments occurred where my world was turned upside-down. Things became less black-and white and more "gray." For me, this was frustrating at first, but, over time, my eyes opened allowing me to feel, experience, and understand with much more clarity. By observing peoples responses to various healthcare services provided by myself, in tandem with medical doctors, or other professionals who practice in the field of health, one thing became even more clear: The body will make every attempt to heal itself if given what it "needs." The need can be from various sources, but balance is the key and nutritional coaching helps to restore the balance.
I received my training in nutrition from both New York Chiropractic College as well as the Institute for Integrative Nutrition*
, where I studied a variety of dietary theories and practical lifestyle coaching methods. With my knowledge, we co-create completely personalized actions based on your goals to move you toward your ideal vision of health within your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and resources.
